Too many credit applications can lower your score, but multiple inquires from the same type of lender within a short period of time are only counted as one inquiry.
Review Your Credit
Track your credit score. Having a higher score will generally get you a lower rate. Get free copies of your credit reports from all three reporting agencies. (Experian, Equifax and TransUnion)
Dispute any errors, pay all bills on time, keep credit card balances as low as possible and keep current credit cards open. Closing a card could negatively impact your credit score.
